The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the date of Eidul Azha 2024, one of the most significant Islamic festivals.
According to the PMD, Eidul Azha 2024 will likely be observed in Pakistan on the date of June 17 (Monday).
This prediction follows the Climate Data Processing Centre’s analysis, which indicates that the Zilhajj moon is expected to be sighted on Friday, June 7.
The Centre detailed that on June 6, the moon will rise at 5:38 PM, with sunset anticipated at 7:20 PM.
This timing suggests the moon will be visible for approximately 72 minutes after sunset, making its sighting highly probable.
Eidul Azha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, holds profound religious significance for Muslims worldwide.
It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.
In honor of this event, Muslim faithful partake in the ritual slaughter of animals such as goats, sheep, and cows.
The meat from these sacrifices is then shared among family, friends, and the less fortunate, embodying the spirit of charity and community.
The festival, which spans three days, is marked by communal prayers, festive meals, and acts of generosity.
The faithful engage in this annual tradition to not only honor Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion but also to reinforce values of sacrifice and altruism within the community.
