The Supreme Council of All Pakistan Transporters has vehemently opposed the toll increase, deeming it “unacceptable” and “cruel.”
In a statement, the council criticized the move, highlighting the severe financial strain it places on an already burdened transport sector.
“We are already struggling with high costs of diesel, spare parts, and tires. This additional burden of increased toll tax will cause immense hardship,” the council stated.
They emphasized that the hike would not only affect goods transporters but also oil tankers, public transport, interstate buses, local vans, and wagon owners, all of whom are facing significant financial difficulties.
“This increase in toll tax is a cruel decision that will further burden the already struggling transport industry,” the council declared, urging the government to reconsider its decision and provide relief to transporters.
