Transgenders arrested for attacking Kharian police station after ‘torture’.
Four individuals, including three transgender individuals, were arrested following an attack on the Saddar police station in Kharian, Gujrat.
The incident unfolded subsequent to an alleged altercation stemming from a police stop and search involving a transgender individual identified as Hira and her male companion.
According to reports, tension escalated as the officers detained Hira and her companion, purportedly subjecting them to physical assault before their eventual release.
In response to this perceived mistreatment, a group of transgender individuals congregated at the police station, resulting in vandalism of property and confrontations with officials.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as protesters resorted to hurling projectiles and damaging property both within and outside the station premises.
In swift response to the situation, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Asad Muzaffar initiated measures, including the formation of a high-level inquiry committee led by SP Investigation, to investigate the incident thoroughly.
Subsequently, based on the findings of the inquiry committee, legal action was taken, resulting in the registration of a case against 27 individuals, including 20 unidentified persons, under various sections of the law.
DPO Asad Muzaffar underscored the significance of video evidence indicating prior attempts at resolving the dispute through a purported ‘settlement’ between the transgenders and the police.
However, he highlighted the escalation of tensions culminating in the violent altercation witnessed at the station.
As transgenders arrested for attacking Kharian police station after ‘torture’, furthermore, amidst the ongoing investigation, allegations of misconduct against police personnel, specifically concerning the alleged rape of transgender individual Hira, have been brought to light, prompting additional legal proceedings.
