Mohsin Naqvi announces $100,000 to each player if team wins T20 World Cup

The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, has announced a substantial incentive for the national team ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Each player stands to receive $100,000 in the event of a victory in the tournament, slated to commence in June.

Mohsin Naqvi made the declaration during a luncheon hosted for the Pakistan cricket team at Lahore’s historic Gaddafi Stadium before the commencement of T20 World Cup.

The event, which took place ahead of the team’s imminent tours of Ireland and England, served as a platform for strategic discussions and morale-boosting interactions.

Scheduled to begin on May 6th, a three-day training camp in Lahore precedes the team’s departure for Dublin, Ireland, on May 7th.

The team is set to engage in a three-match T20I series against Ireland from May 10th to May 14th before proceeding to England for a four-match T20I series starting May 22nd.

Earlier in the week, the PCB unveiled an 18-member squad for the upcoming tours, with plans to trim it down to 15 players for the prestigious tournament following the first T20I against England on May 22nd, in compliance with the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) May 24th team announcement deadline.

During his two-hour rendezvous with the team and officials, Naqvi emphasized a strategic approach, urging the players to perform without succumbing to pressure and to exhibit unwavering teamwork on the field.

“Play only for Pakistan,” Naqvi advised, stressing unity among the players.

“The nation has high hopes for you. We hope that you will raise the Pakistani flag high this time,” he added.

Furthermore, Naqvi reassured the players of the PCB’s commitment to promptly address any challenges they may encounter.

Additionally, he honored wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Naseem Shah for their remarkable achievements in the T20 format, presenting them with special jerseys for respectively amassing 3,000 runs and capturing 100 wickets.
