The recent arrest of a woman in Sialkot has sent shockwaves through the community after she allegedly murdered her daughter for marrying a man of her choice.

The tragic incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of the Muradpur Police Station, where the victim, already married, had left her family home to wed her chosen partner.

Prior to this, her family had lodged a kidnapping case against her.

It’s reported that tensions escalated when the victim provided false testimony in court, further angering her family.

This ultimately culminated in the mother’s alleged violent act against her own daughter.

As a woman kills daughter for ‘honour’ in Sialkot, law enforcement officials have taken swift action, arresting the suspect and launching an investigation.

On the other hand, the data released by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) reveals a grim reality of honor killings in the country from 2016 to 2022.

According to HRCP, there were dozens of such killings reported in various cities during this period.

Shockingly, in the year 2022 alone, there were 520 honor killings documented across Pakistan. Among the victims, 197 were men and 323 were women.
