Tesla plans to launch affordable electric cars. Tesla has announced to bring more affordable electric vehicles (EVs) to market by leveraging its existing production lines.
The company’s plan includes a shift towards a “next-generation vehicle platform” to streamline manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
Introduction of Cheaper Model:
One of the best outcomes of this strategy is the introduction of a smaller and more affordable Tesla model, commonly referred to as the “$25,000 Tesla” or “Model 2”.

This model is part of Tesla’s efforts to democratize electric vehicles and make them more accessible to common people.
Revised Vehicle Line-Up:
Contrary to recent speculations, Tesla clarified its plans for the future vehicle line-up during the release of its Q1 2024 financial results.
The company announced an accelerated timeline for launching new models, aiming to bring them to market ahead of the previously scheduled production start in the second half of 2025.
“We have updated our future vehicle line-up to accelerate the launch of new models ahead of our previously communicated start of production in the second half of 2025.
“These new vehicles, including more affordable models, will utilize aspects of the next generation platform as well as aspects of our current platforms, and will be able to be produced on the same manufacturing lines as our current vehicle line-up.”
These new models, including the more affordable options, will incorporate elements from the next-generation platform as well as existing technologies.
Importantly, Tesla emphasized that these vehicles will be capable of being produced on the same manufacturing lines as the current vehicle line-up, signifying a departure from the originally proposed “unboxed” production system.
Continued Focus on Robotaxi:
As Tesla plans to launch affordable electric cars, Tesla reaffirmed its commitment to developing the Robotaxi, a self-driving vehicle specifically designed for autonomous ride-sharing services.
The Robotaxi project will continue to utilize the innovative “unboxed” production system, highlighting Tesla’s ongoing dedication to advancing autonomous vehicle technologies.
