A man, who was observing Itikaf at a mosque, had been detained on suspicion of raping a youngster in Kot Addu, Punjab.
According to police, the incident happened last night at a mosque when the victim, 13, and suspect, 28, were observing Itikaf.
The victim reported to the police that the suspect had taken him to a different location and abused him.
He further stated that the suspect had put a hand over his mouth, making it impossible for him to call for help.
Based on a complaint made by his father, the police have opened a case against the suspect.
A formal inquiry has been opened into the case.
In his application, the father claimed that the Imam of the mosque had told him about the incident and that the suspect had sexually assaulted his child in a toilet.
