Outrage mounts as Madrassa teacher accused of molesting minor boy in Tandlianwala.

In the wake of recent allegations of child abuse involving a seminary cleric, renewed attention has been drawn to the pervasive issue of child sexual abuse within Madrassas, religious schools where such incidents are reported to occur frequently.

The incident unfolded in Tandlianwala, a town located approximately 50km near Faisalabad, where a seminary teacher was accused of molesting a minor boy.

Despite the seriousness of the allegations, the accused was ultimately released following a conciliation process between the involved parties.

Accusations and Conciliation

Local authorities took action by lodging a case against Abubakar Muawiyah, a madrassa teacher allegedly involved in sexually assaulting a child.

However, the accused was later released following conciliation efforts led by prominent scholar Allama Ibtesam Elahi Zaheer.

The victim’s father reportedly forgave the accused in the spirit of religious reconciliation.

Criticism and Concerns

Despite the conciliation process, critics have voiced strong opposition to the involvement of religious scholars in resolving cases of child abuse.

Activists and social media users argue that such matters require robust legal measures to ensure justice and deter future abuses.

The incident has sparked debate over the efficacy of relying on religious mediation in addressing serious criminal offenses.

Details of the Allegations

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused father alleged that the cleric attempted to rape his minor son and fled the scene upon being caught, brandishing a weapon to intimidate witnesses.

The gravity of the allegations underscores the urgency of addressing systemic issues within Madrassas to safeguard children from exploitation and abuse.

Arrest and Release

Following the filing of the FIR, local police arrested the suspect, only to release him six days later.

This move has faced scrutiny in light of subsequent online video clips purportedly showing the accused engaging in further abusive behavior towards madrassa children.
