Later, at Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the 11th Round of Pakistan-Australia Defense and Security Talks and the 8th Round of 1.5 Track Security Dialogue were held.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee led the Pakistani delegation, while Chief of Defence Forces Australia led the Australian delegation.
Both parties discussed the Pakistani and Australian Defence Forces’ continuous collaboration in the areas of mutual exchange, training programmes, joint exercises, and other defence-related activities.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening and enhancing bilateral security and defence cooperation.
Defence and Security Talks were first held in 2006, and have since been held on a rotating basis in Pakistan and Australia. The defence connections between the two countries are gradually becoming more substantive under the auspices of this forum.
The Australian dignitaries praised Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their high professional standards, achievements in the battle against terrorism, and sustained efforts for regional peace and security, particularly in Afghanistan.
A very well tri-services contingent presented General Angus J Campbell with “Guard of Honour” upon his arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters.
