PCB terminates Haris Rauf’s central contract. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken decisive action against fast bowler Haris Rauf following an inquiry into his controversial decision to decline participation in Pakistan’s Test squad for the 2023-24 tour of Australia.
After a thorough investigation led by a PCB committee and incorporating feedback from all relevant stakeholders, the board has decided to terminate Haris Rauf’s central contract effective from December 1, 2023.
Additionally, the PCB has imposed restrictions on his ability to participate in foreign leagues, denying him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) until June 30, 2024.

The PCB afforded Rauf an opportunity for a personal hearing on January 30, 2024, adhering to the principles of natural justice. However, the response provided by Rauf during the hearing was deemed insufficient by the board.
In a statement issued by the PCB, it reiterated the prestigious nature of representing Pakistan in international cricket, labeling it as the highest honor and privilege for any athlete.
The board underscored that Rauf‘s refusal to join the Test squad without presenting a legitimate medical excuse or providing satisfactory justification constitutes a serious breach of his central contract.
As PCB terminates Haris Rauf’s central contract, this disciplinary action sends a strong message from the PCB regarding the expectations placed upon contracted players to prioritize national commitments and uphold the integrity of their agreements with the board.
