Hajra Khan’s book against Imran Khan set for launch this week. Renowned Pakistani television and film actor, Hajra Khan Panezai, is poised to release the original version of her memoir titled “WHERE THE OPIUM GROWS: Surviving Pakistan as a Woman, an Actress And Knowing Imran Khan.”
The book, set to be launched at Serena Hotel, Islamabad, on November 24, is expected to contain startling allegations against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The foreword, available on Amazon, provides a glimpse into the narrative, describing it as a captivating memoir chronicling Panezai’s escape from the deprived region of Quetta, known for opium trade and a post-Soviet war refugee influx.
From this challenging background, she rose to prominence as a successful actress, capturing the attention of Imran Khan, a prominent figure in Pakistani politics.
The memoir promises a rare insight into the experiences of a modern woman in 21st century Pakistan.
Described as a brutally honest and page-turning read, Panezai’s account is expected to shed light on her trials, from surviving abuse as a child to navigating the complexities of love and purpose in life.
The narrative aims to advocate for justice for women, minorities, animals, and the LGBTQ+ community in Pakistan.
During a recent podcast, Panezai revealed that the book, written in 2014 during a hiatus from showbiz in London, covers her life journey from childhood to her days in the entertainment industry.
She recounted a disturbing experience of being pursued by a prominent individual, allegedly misused by Imran Khan.
Panezai claimed that she was compelled to leave the country in 2014, alleging that Imran Khan feared exposure and had her social media accounts hacked by his team.
Highlighting the impact of her encounter with Imran Khan on her career, Panezai clarified that her intentions were not politically motivated, emphasizing that her judgment of Imran Khan as a “wrong number” dates back to 2014.
As anticipation builds for the release of the “organic version” of her memoir, Panezai urged the public to reevaluate their perception of Imran Khan as a savior of the country.’
