Former cricketer Danish Kaneria accuses Shahid Afridi of religious discrimination. Former Pakistani spinner Danish Kaneria has accused ex-captain Shahid Afridi of attempting to forcibly convert him to Islam during his playing days.
Kaneria, who is of Hindu faith, disclosed the alleged discrimination he faced from his teammates, claiming that Afridi and others isolated him because of his religious beliefs.
Speaking candidly about his experiences, Kaneria stated, “Shahid Afridi troubled me a lot during my playing days. Afridi and others would not eat with me. Shahid Afridi tried forcing me to convert to Islam. Inzamam-ul-Haq and Shoaib Akhtar were the only people who supported me.”
Kaneria further revealed that he was charged with spot-fixing during his county stint, a claim he vehemently denies.
He alleged that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not support him in this matter, pointing to his Hindu faith as the reason for their lack of backing.

According to Kaneria, the PCB was apprehensive that he might surpass existing records if allowed to continue playing.
