PCB supports Babar Azam and the team amidst World Cup setbacks. In the wake of three consecutive defeats in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a statement reaffirming its support for underfire captain Babar Azam and the team management.

The PCB acknowledges the passionate “emotions and sentiments” of cricket fans while urging the cricketing community and supporters to stand firmly behind the national team in what has proven to be a challenging environment.

The PCB emphasized that Pakistan still has four pivotal matches to contest in the round-robin stage of the tournament and expressed its optimism that the team will regroup, overcome the recent setbacks, and deliver strong performances in the upcoming fixtures.

In response to media scrutiny, the PCB’s statement echoed a universal truth in sports: that both successes and defeats are an integral part of the game.

The board also highlighted that Captain Babar Azam and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq were afforded the autonomy and support they needed in the selection process for the ICC World Cup 2023.

Furthermore, the PCB asserted its commitment to making future decisions in the best interests of Pakistan cricket, a pledge that would be determined by the team’s performance in the ongoing World Cup.

“At present, the PCB encourages fans, former players, and stakeholders to rally behind the team as they strive to make a triumphant comeback in the mega-event,” the statement from the governing body of cricket in Pakistan concluded.

As PCB supports Babar Azam and team amidst World Cup setbacks, in the tournament’s standings, Pakistan finds itself in the fifth position following losses to Afghanistan, Australia, and India.

For any chance of advancing to the semi-finals of the prestigious ICC World Cup, Pakistan will need to secure victories in all remaining matches.

Pakistan’s next test will come against South Africa at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 27.

The Proteas have proven to be a formidable side in the competition, securing victories in four out of the five matches they have played thus far.

The morale within the Pakistan camp is of paramount concern after suffering three consecutive defeats, a matter that the team management and players will undoubtedly be working tirelessly to address.
