Aurat March denounces Nawaz Sharif over misogynistic dig at PTI women. The triumphant return of Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif became a hotbed of misogynistic remarks that mocked Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf’s female supporters.

Disgusted and dissatisfied, the Karachi chapter of the women’s rights movement Aurat March took to platform X (formerly known as Twitter) on Saturday to condemn the deposed former Prime Minister for his sexist remarks delivered during the procession of the Minar e Pakistan.

The tweet began with the sarcastic remark, “Bohat Khoob [Well done],” and went on to say that the politician has yet to reject the traditional view of women as being either good or bad, with no in-between.

“He has not learnt up till now that categorising women as “good” or “bad” is a thing of ancient times,” the tweet read, raising concerns over the societal view of women dancing in public processions and labelled as a “ghatiya harqat” [a degrading action].

Nawaz made a sarcastic remark about PTI supporters when he compared women praising him at the rally to not dancing to the party’s anthems, hinting at his subtle yet obvious dig at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

On the other hand, after spending four years in self-imposed exile in London, the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan on Saturday afternoon from Dubai and told his supporters that his sole concern was for the welfare of the Pakistani people.

On Saturday night, Sharif said he wanted to serve the country and that Pakistan needed to advance at twice the rate. He was speaking to a large crowd at Minar-e-Pakistan.

He claimed that despite working day and night to address Pakistan’s issues, he and his family members were accused of crimes and put behind bars.

He said that by lowering the power tariff, he gave residents some relief during the 18-hour power outage. He claimed that some wounds never fully heal; for example, his mother died while he was in exile and his wife died while he was in prison.
