ICC statement on Rizwan’s tweet regarding Palestine
The flashy hitter yesterday paid tribute to the people of Gaza by winning the ICC Cricket World 2023 match against Sri Lanka.
According to a statement made by the ICC, Rizwan’s tweet about Gaza following Pakistan’s victory over Sri Lanka is “beyond our jurisdiction.”
The 31-year-old expressed support for those being victimized by Israeli forces by standing in solidarity with the Palestinians.
In a social media post, the wicketkeeper batter extended deep-rooted solidarity with the Palestinian cause. “This was for our brothers and sisters in Gaza,” his post reads.
In the eighth game of the ICC World Cup 2023 in Hyderabad, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets on Tuesday by chasing the highest total in tournament history.
Pakistan easily chased down Sri Lanka’s score of 344/9 and won by six wickets. Mohammad Rizwan and Abdullah Shafique destroyed Sri Lanka’s bowling.
In another score, Rizwan surpassed 100 points for his country, becoming the second wicketkeeper in World Cup history to do so.
On the other hand, the much-anticipated central contracts were announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday, and Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan received massive 202% raises in their monthly salaries.
The agreement, which ends a four-month impasse between the PCB and the players, allows the players to share in the International Cricket Council (ICC) payout for the first time.
“PCB has successfully negotiated a three-year central contact deal with its senior players that will run from July 1 2023 to June 30, 2026, in which 25 cricketers will be offered a deal,” the board said in a statement.
