Finance minister submits details of pay, perks of SBP governor in Senate

ISLAMABAD: In answer to a question by Senator Irfan Siddiqui of the Pakistan Muslim League, the Finance Ministry has given details of Governor Reza Baqir’s salaries and benefits to the Senate (PML-N).

According to the ministry’s written response, the SBP governor gets paid Rs 2.5 million per month with a 10% annual raise, as well as a furnished house or equal rent and maintenance.

Baqir has received two vehicles, as well as drivers and 600 litres of petrol. He is also given electricity, gas, water, and generator charges, as well as 75 percent of his children’s education payments. The governor of the SBP is provided with free landline and mobile phones, as well as access to the internet.

According to the Finance Ministry, the governor of the SBP can employ up to four people, each earning Rs18,000 per month. He has security guards and a medical facility available to him 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Every month, the governor is entitled to three days off.

His gratuity is equal to a month’s pay. Air tickets and luggage transfer are provided for him and his family. The club’s monthly charges have also been sent to the SBP governor.
