Netizens react as PCB omits Imran Khan from the Independence Day video.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing public anger on social media for politicizing sports after former skipper and Prime Minister Imran Khan was absent from the country’s Independence Day legacy film.

Khan led Team Green to their first ODI World Cup title in 1992, with to his superb captaincy and bowling abilities. Imran Khan got 362 Test wickets in 88 matches and 182 ODI wickets in 175 matches during his cricket career.

The cricket board posted the video on the eve of Independence Day, highlighting the team’s best successes since the 1950s. It featured footage from Pakistan’s World Cup victory in 1992.

However, Pakistani cricket experts and fans were quick to point out that the video omitted Khan, who had gained national pride as the national team’s captain.

Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is presently serving a three-year prison sentence in the Toshakhana case, as political tensions in the country rise.

Fans stated that Khan was not intended to be in the video. Following the development, “ShamonPCB” has been a trend on X, with the public criticizing the board for being biased.
