Woman loses leg at Bangkok airport. In a tragic sequence of events, a woman lost her leg after becoming trapped in a moving walkway at Bangkok’s airport.

The woman fell over her suitcase while on her way to catch a flight at the Don Mueang airport on Thursday morning.

Her leg was amputated above the knee at the airport, and she was taken to a local hospital, where it was found that her leg could not be reattached.

As a woman loses leg at Bangkok airport, the 57-year-old, whose family is concerned about her mental health as a result of her leg amputation, was shown seated with her left leg stuck underneath the travelator in photos released online, while a video of the mishap is yet awaiting.

The yellow comb plates that are generally found at the ends of travelators had also fallen off at the airport, but according to local media, the travelator in issue had been in operation since 1996.

Faced with criticism over the event, airport officials stated that they were “deeply saddened” and would pay the woman for the partial amputation of her left leg, as well as cover her medical expenses.

Meanwhile, airport director Karant Thanakuljeerapat told newsmen that the cause of the incident is under investigation, adding that the airport had planned to replace several old travelators by 2025 but may speed up the process now.

Bangkok, officially known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon and colloquially as Krung Thep is the capital and most populous city of Thailand.

The city occupies 1,568.7 square kilometers (605.7 sq mi) in the Chao Phraya River delta in central Thailand and has an estimated population of 10.539 million as of 2020, 15.3 percent of the country’s population.
