Recoveries from Covid surpasses new cases

ISLAMABAD: The number of active Covid cases fell slightly on Wednesday, as cumulative recoveries from the infectious disease surpassed the single-day tally of new cases for the first time during the global pandemic’s ongoing fifth wave.

During the past 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the nerve centre of the government’s coordinated fight against the epidemic, recorded 6,047 new cases against 9,590 recoveries.

According to the forum, the national positivity ratio in the last 24 hours was 9.9%, marking the second consecutive day with a positivity ratio below 10%. It was also revealed that 29 Covid patients had died in the previous 24 hours.

According to the report, Punjab had the most cases (1,895), followed by Sindh with 1,552 and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with 1,441. However, Sindh had the largest number of deaths, with 11, followed by Punjab with 9 and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with 7.

The number of active cases had dropped to 102,103 as of Wednesday, according to the NCOC, with 1,559 people in critical condition. Since the disease outbreak in February 2020, the total number of people who have recovered has risen to approximately 1.305 million, according to the forum.
