First transgender doctor gets job in JPMC

KARACHI: Sarah Gill, Pakistan’s first transgender doctor and rights campaigner, obtained her employment letter from the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College (JPMC) on Tuesday, and she is now ready to begin her house job at the institute in Karachi. Gill met JPMC Executive Director Professor Shahid Rasool to receive the letter, according to a statement posted by the Chief Minister’s House.

According to the report, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah complimented Gill on getting the letter and claimed that the government was working to give transgender people with job opportunities in all sectors. In every field, the CM promised to gain transgender people the respect and dignity they deserve.

According to the communique, Bilawal Bhutto, the chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), had asked the institute to hire Gill. It went on to say that the CM had already asked the institute to issue the letter in accordance with the directions. A prominent transgender activist recently become the country’s first transgender doctor.

Dr. Gill completed her schooling at JMDC Karachi and passed her MBBS (Final) exams. The JMDC is a Karachi University affiliate. Dr. Gill also works for a non-governmental organisation in Pakistan that promotes the rights of transgender people. “I am honoured to be Pakistan’s first transgender doctor,” she remarked. “I intend to work for the good of my community.” Despite the fact that her classmates knew who she was, Dr. Gill stated she had to fill out the college admissions form as a male due to her parents’ insistence. “As a transgender student, I had a lot of challenges at school, but I never gave up.”
