In a recent press conference, US State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel stated that the government has been monitoring the case of a well-known fashion designer and has requested consular access to her.

Patel reacted to a question from a journalist regarding the arrested fashion designer.

We have been following her case, he said, adding that the US routinely asks foreign governments to allow and follow consular notifications for processes when American nationals are detained and that Ms. Shah is a dual national, so we will continue to contact directly the government.

Officials from the United States said they expect Pakistani authorities to uphold all fair trial assurances owed to those detained for attacks on state sites.

An anti-terrorism court sent Khadija Shah to jail on judicial remand last month for an identification parade. According to police, Khadijah Shah is the prime suspect in the Jinnah House attack.

Khadijah Shah is the granddaughter of late Chief of Army Staff Gen (r) Asif Nawaz Janjua, a fashion designer.

She is the daughter of Dr. Salman Shah, a former financial advisor.

She is the Creative Director and Founder of Elan, Pakistan’s premier luxury brand. Shah also owns the Zaha brand, which focuses on providing ladies with distinctive, exceptional, and inexpensive apparel.
