Australian police launched an investigation after 65 women reported receiving used condoms in the mail along with handwritten notes, according to the BBC. An anonymous sender distributed the letters to addresses in southeast and eastern Melbourne. The last three months have seen the receipt of all the mail. Now everyone is looking for who is mailing used condoms to Australian women.

The police believed that all of the victims were connected and a part of a deliberate attack.

In 1999, all of the women attended the exclusive girls’ school Kilbreda College in the city. According to the police, their addresses must have been taken from an old school yearbook. The case is also being looked into by the Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team.

“It is believed that most of those who reported the material have received multiple letters, all with the suspected used item included. Officers believe the victims are linked and are part of a targeted attack,” the statement said.

A woman who received the mail was quoted by Australia’s Herald Sun as saying that she received a letter with “very graphic (handwritten) messages” after which she tried to contact her friends.

“I didn’t sleep the night I received the letter, it really creeped me out,” the woman said. Police has also urged people having any information related to the case to come forward and help the authorities.

Kilbreda College, an independent Catholic girls’ school, was founded by the Brigidine Sisters in 1904 and has some 900 pupils enrolled.
