PTI leader Asad Umar arrested in Islamabad

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar was arrested from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday a day after party chairman Imran Khan was taken into custody by the NAB in a corruption case.

The PTI leader Asad Umar was arrested by the Anti-Terrorist Squad of the Islamabad police.

At the time of the arrest the PTI lawyers tried stopping the police from arresting the Umar but their efforts went in vain.

The former finance minister was in the IHC to file a petition to seek a meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Asad Umar is a Pakistani politician who had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from September 2013 till May 2018 and again from August 2018 till January 2023. He served as the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives, from 19 November 2019 to 10 April 2022.
