According to CNN, Barlocco, a lonely and desolate island off the southern coast of Scotland, is for sale for $190,000 (about 1.5 crores). During the winter, a flood pond on the island provides water to animals and other creatures. It also features a foot-accessible pebble beach where a boat can be beached or anchored at low tide.
“There’s still a very romantic sentiment attached to owning your very own Scottish private island, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy some peace and tranquillity in the most beautiful scenery around,” Aaron Edgar of Galbraith Group, who is handling the sale of the island, said in a statement, as per the outlet.
The nearest town is around six miles distant, and the nearest train station is about an hour away by car. London is over 350 miles away, and Edinburgh is only 100 miles away.
The island in Scotland is around 25 acres in size, with beautiful green grass and rocky outcrops extending to the sea. The area also has “outstanding views” and some of the largest seabird populations in the area.
“There are no current or historic planning consents or applications relating to the Island. Any planning opportunities should be investigated by the buyer directly with the local planning authority,” the Galbraith Group website stated.
The island is teeming with wildlife, especially huge black-backed gulls. The territory in the United Kingdom has been classified as a special area of interest due to the presence of uncommon species of fauna and plants. It also has unique plants such as rock sea lavender and fragrant orchid.
The agency anticipates great interest in this island. Mr. Edgar continued, “We have witnessed strong demand from domestic and international parties for entire private islands having handled the sale of several in Scotland.”
