Man detained over acid attack on wife

MULTAN: On Saturday, police detained a man accused of throwing acid on his wife.

To apprehend the culprit, City Police Officer (CPO) Khurram Shahzad Haider reportedly established a special team under the leadership of Gulgasht Division SP Hassan Jehangir.

According to reports, the suspect Shah and the victim Parveen Bibi married eight months ago.

The suspect had suspicions about the victim, according to the police. The guy splashed acid on his wife out of rage on Friday and managed to flee the scene.

The acid attack victim was taken to a hospital after the police filed a complaint against the perpetrator. During a raid, the guy was apprehended by local cops.

Gender-based violence and acid assaults against women have been reported in the province on several occasions. In Thikriwala, a man was detained on September 12 for throwing acid on his wife.

According to reports, a Bismillah Town resident revealed in her police complaint that she married Muhammad Nadeem in 2007 and had four children with him.

The complainant stated that her spouse used to quarrel with her at home on a regular basis.

She told police that she was heading out to get medicines from a nearby medical store on the day of the event when the suspect Nadeem arrived in a rickshaw and stopped her.

She told police that her husband, Nadeem, reportedly beat her in front of their neighbours and then began making false claims against her after returning home.

The lady informed authorities that her husband had abused her and then threw acid on her, causing her to suffer severe burn injuries.

The woman also told the cops that she alerted her brothers about the incident first. Her spouse, Nadeem, had various doubts about her, according to the victim.

Razaabad police apprehended the suspect after receiving a complaint, and a case was filed against him under Section 336B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

On June 7, a teenage domestic helper was allegedly beaten with acid in Johar Town, Lahore, after she refused a marriage proposal.

The victim, a 27-year-old Pakpattan native, had relocated to Lahore in search of work. She was staying in Feroziyanwala and working as a maid at Chungi Amar Sadu, a few kilometres away.

She was on her way to work at the Sui Gas Society in Chungi Amar Sadhu on the day of the event when two suspects, one of them was Ahmad Liaquat, a Depalpur resident, caught her on a motorcycle near Jagawar Chowk.
