Parties are important, whether you like them or not. They are places where people meet potential business and romantic partners, as well as friends, and where small talk becomes the stuff of life. Likewise, Campus life is boring if you don’t party with friends. And a university like LUMS always takes lead in educational and co-curricular activities.
Recently, the students of LUMS university celebrated the “fake Shadi night” of two seniors. The idea was to celebrate their fake wedding in order to enjoy the traditional marriage customs. Like buying clothes and rings for the couple, giving them money on the mehndi night, etc.

The party was awesome with Holi colors in the air and students dancing to Bollywood songs. However, as soon as the videos went viral on social media pages, netizens reacted badly as usual by calling them burgers or different bread. Some people call this activity immoral according to Islam and very few people appreciated this idea.
Here’s how Twitter responded to the Shadi night:

Mann, I love it, they look so cute. We used to do these kinda things when we were kids like gudda guddi ki Shaadi, so why not now? I know they’re not gudda guddi though but still.. waise bhi life mai thoda halla gulla hona chahiye.
I am obsessed with it.#lums pic.twitter.com/lBpAoIphxy— M (@cuteyetpsychoo_) March 13, 2023
Fake marriages and dance parties: Are they becoming the new norm in universities like LUMS? Is this what we define as ‘education’ in today’s society?”#Pakistan #lums pic.twitter.com/P7zTycUlQI

We used to do our doll’s wedding when we were children as these elite kids didn’t experience that fun in their childhood so they are doing it rn. #lums

How does that work? Well, a campaign is held after which two seniors are picked to become the bride and groom leading to a three-day-long mock wedding.
Lums students have shared footage from the events and it was truly wholesome to witness.#lums #university #pakistan #lahore pic.twitter.com/A4woBXiHJJ— YN (@yasir_nazeer1) March 13, 2023
