Research shows UK towns most addicted to social media. Wrexham, a city in Wales, was named the most social media-obsessed city in the United Kingdom by the gambling website AskGamblers. The quantity of monthly Google searches for major social media platforms in 2022 was examined by AskGamblers.
The study’s objective was to look at the cities having the most social media searches per 1,000 residents. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok were the main focus.
Every month, on average, 116,780 people in Wrexham looking for social media sites. 90,500 of the monthly searches were on Facebook.
The second and third most social media-obsessed cities, respectively, are Norwich and Inverness. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are the most popular social media sites in Norwich, where there are about 242,500 monthly social media searches.
Inverness has the smallest population on the list, but it has the most monthly social platform searches at 76,070.
Bristol and Liverpool are the 4th and 5th most social media-obsessed cities, respectively. Bristol has approximately 643,600 searches for social media each month.
A spokesperson for AskGamblers stated, “Despite the difference in some cities when it comes to interest in social media, it is clear that Facebook remains one of the most in-demand media platforms. It will be interesting to see if data of this regional level ever becomes available for the likes of the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to see how the playing field varies.”
