An anonymous Pakistani national has won hearts after donating a whopping $30 million in the United States to victims of the catastrophic earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
The individual entered the Turkish Embassy in the United States and gave over the money for relief efforts, only days after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif encouraged Pakistanis to help victims in Turkey and Syria, where the death toll from Monday’s earthquake has topped 24,000. In the aftermath of the accident, hopes of rescuing many more survivors are dwindling.
The anonymous person also received appreciation from the Pakistani premier for his generous act. Taking Twitter, PM Shehbaz wrote: “Deeply moved by the example of an anonymous Pakistani who walked into Turkish embassy in the US & donated $30 million for earthquake victims in Türkiye & Syria”.
These are such glorious acts of philanthropy that enable humanity to triumph over the seemingly insurmountable odds, he added.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister held a telephonic conversation with the Syrian counterpart Hussein Arnous and assured to extend every possible help to the earthquake victims of Syria. He expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death and destruction caused by the earthquake in Syria.
He also conveyed his sympathies for the deaths of Syrian Prime Minister Bashar al-family Assad’s members in the disaster. The government and people of Pakistan, according to Shehbaz Sharif, are extremely saddened by the tragic loss of precious lives and significant property damage caused by the devastating earthquake.
