Serbian MP resigns after watching porn in parliament

Serbian MP resigns after watching porn in parliament. According to the state-run network RTS, a Serbian MP resigned on Tuesday after a video of him viewing pornography during a tense parliamentary session went viral online this week.

Online video captured Zvonimir Stevic using his phone to view pornographic material during a contentious discussion in parliament last week about possible connections with the separatist state of Kosovo.

Stevic was chastised by the executive of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party for “watching a porn movie” during the session, which also had several physical altercations amongst lawmakers.

The veteran Socialist Party member, 65, who was born in Kosovo, is a junior member of Serbia’s ruling coalition. Serbian MP resigns after watching porn in parliament and he was requested to quit by his own party’s leader after the online video went viral.

Western countries have stepped up their pressure on Serbia and Kosovo to reach a deal that would normalise relations between the two parties.

With the support of strong allies like Russia and China, Serbia continues to refuse to recognise the government of its former province with a majority of Albanian citizens, which declared independence in 2008. This has prevented the territory from joining a number of international organisations, including the United Nations.
