Ombudsman Punjab Maj (R) Azam Suleman Khan has intervened to ensure reimbursement of around 17 million rupees to different complaints from Lahore, Chakwal, Attock, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Khanewal and Rahim Yar Khan districts by provincial government departments, namely TEVTA, Punjab Small Industries Corporation, Punjab Workers Welfare Board, municipal committee, highways, education, health and Population Welfare departments.
Similarly, the ombudsman office had intervened to reimburse 4 million rupees to different sugarcane farmers of Jhang as payment of their sugarcane crop, which was pending. Alongside, the ombudsman office had also directed district accounts officer Khanewal to merge the premature increment amount of 1330 rupees in the monthly salaries of four different plaintiffs after their departmental promotions.
The board of studies of Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan has agreed with students’ complaints in the light of directions given by the ombudsman office on an application of Asad Ali of Multan district. It had provided five additional marks to all the law college students who took the Islamic studies paper in 2021. This has benefitted hundreds of students.
In a separate development, the ombudsman office mediated with concerned departments to recruit three applicants, Mohammad Waleed, Zaheer-Uddin and Komal Mustafa of Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakar and Sheikhupura districts under rule 17-A. Similarly, the health department Rahim Yar Khan had also paid salary arrears to Mohammad Waleed after the intervention of the ombudsman office.
The plaintiffs have thanked the Ombudsman, Punjab Maj (R) Azam Suleman Khan, for extending institutional support to get their legal rights.
