Twitter storm after ‘boys will be boys’ makes it to CSS 2023 exam. “Boys will be boys” became the number one trend on Twitter in Pakistan on Wednesday after being one of the English essay topics in the English section of the Central Superior Services (CSS) 2023 exams. The English Essay is one of the CSS’ most notoriously challenging papers to clear.

As soon as the exam ended, a Twitter storm after the ‘boys will be boys’ makes it to CSS 2023 exam CSS applicants took to social media to share how the bizarre topic made an appearance in the examinations. One wrote, “The paper setter was a memer”.

On the one hand, it sparked amusing reactions, but on the other, it sparked discussion on how failing to hold males accountable leads to toxic masculinity and the maintenance of patriarchal practices.

 

A Twitter user praised the examiner for putting forward a topic of discussion that is necessary. “Boys will be boys is actually in favor of women if you look between the lines. It targets toxic masculinity and male privilege where women are mistreated and subjugated. The aim was to emancipate women in this. Competitive exam for a reason.”

The CSS is one of the most popular examinations in Pakistan with 32,059 candidates appearing each year. In 2022, 20,262 candidates took the exam with only 1.94 percent passing.

CSS Exam stands for Central Superior Service Exam. CSS Exam is conducted by Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Islamabad for the recruitment of candidates to posts (BS-17) in the following services under the Federal Government. Commerce and Trade Services. Customs and Excise Services.
