Veteran leftist politician and jurist from Dera Ismail Khan Professor Syed Nisar Safdar here on another day passed away after an illness in Dera Ismail Khan.
Prof. Syed Nisar Safdar was buried in Kotli Imam Hussain, D I Khan after funeral prayers in which thousands of people belonging to every walk of life including lawyers, politicians, and social workers were present.
Late Syed Nisar Safdar basically belonged to village Safdar of Tank district and accordingly was called Safdar, he received his primary education in his native area and then further education from Dera Ismail Khan after which he obtained his law degree and became a lawyer as well as a professor of law.
He joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) during the Bhutto era and played a very dynamic and active role.
After the execution of Z.A. Bhutto Syed Nisar Safdar also joined the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD) and was imprisoned several times and participated in many demonstrations.
However, Syed Nisar Safdar was one of those people who were accused in the case for hijacking the plane and being associated with the Al-Zulfiqar organization after which he left the country and lived a long life in exile in Libya.
After the death of General Zia-ul-Haq and the restoration of democracy in Pakistan, Nisar Safdar returned to his homeland and along with his political activities, he taught law students and advocated.
He was among the senior leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party and also a leftist politician.
The Pakistan Peoples Party leadership also offered condolences to the family of the late Syed Nisar Safdar Shah on his demise.
