CM takes notice of torture on elderly woman in Sialkot

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken note of an incidence of torture in Sialkot and has requested a report from the Inspector General of Police.

The chief minister ordered that legal action should be taken against the attackers, and that they must be brought to justice as soon as possible. He stated that the woman’s rights should be protected. He went on to say that those who were involved in the tragedy did not deserve any pity.

In the meantime, five people have been arrested as suspects in the case. On Sunday, a video of an old woman being tortured over an alleged land dispute in Sialkot went viral on social media.

The woman was dragged by her hair, kicked, and even attacked with sticks, according to the video. Sialkot police filed a complaint against 15 individuals after the video went viral, and several of them, including women, were detained.

The woman claimed the attack was related to a 13-year land dispute she had with the attackers.
