LAHORE: Punjab police’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the gun attack on Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Bilal Yasin.

The CIA has taken up the investigation into the Bilal Yasin attack, which is a significant step forward. The investigation would be led by Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) CIA Saddar Mian Shafqat, according to reports.

The gun attack on Bilal Yasin has been reported to the Data Darbar police station. The CIA has been tasked by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation to conduct a further investigation into the incident.

In the case of the attack, six suspects had been detained. According to reports, the main suspects are still at large.

On January 4, it was revealed that Lahore police have tightened the net around the individuals wanted in the shooting of MPA Bilal Yasin after geofencing the location and collecting CCTV video from neighbouring regions to connect the dots.

According to police officials, the geo-fencing system has discovered over 150,000 phone numbers, and investigative officers have shortlisted 520 of them for further inquiry.

“50 CCTV footage has been gathered from roads leading to Mohni Road and other places,” they stated, adding that the footage has been forwarded for forensic processing in order to create a digital map of the attackers’ escape route.

Six persons have been arrested and are being probed for their role in the attack, according to the police.
