Wedding photoshoot at King Edward Medical University sparks inquiry

An investigation has been opened by the King Edward Medical University after a new couple was spotted using the old structure for a wedding photoshoot.

The couple and its photography team allegedly entered the educational facility after it had closed and used different locations for the shoot, according to reports in the local media.

In a statement, a university spokesperson claimed that during the initial investigation, security guards had been noticed to have assisted the outsiders.

He clarified that no one had taken prior permission for the wedding shoot from the administration, adding that the CCTV footage was also being retrieved to take action against the people involved.

Founded in 1860 in Lahore, King Edward Medical University is one of the top public medical universities in Pakistan. Established by the British Raj, the university is named after King Edward VII.

King Edward Medical University (KEMU) is a public medical university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Founded in 1860, the university is named after King Edward VII.

Established by the British Raj, named Lahore Medical School. In 1868, Trinity College Dublin granted students of the Lahore Medical School a “privilege similar to the granted to students from English schools”.

In 1871, the university added Mayo Hospital as an affiliated hospital, replacing the existing Anarkali Dispensary. The same year the college became an affiliate of the University of Punjab, while in 1887, the university added Lady Aitchison Hospital as a second teaching hospital.
