Imran Khan, a former Pakistani prime minister, is facing serious difficulties at a time when his popularity is at its highest. Even his detractors agree that Imran Khan would easily prevail in today’s elections. But a string of explicit audio leaks is starting to erode his middle-class support. And because he is afraid of what is to come, Imran Khan has had to tone down his rhetorical attacks on the Pakistani establishment that is fiercely devoted to its powerful military.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has confirmed the existence of a 25-minute audio that hasn’t been leaked to the public but is apparently equally damning. The worst, however, are the three videos that some have seen but are afraid to share because they are so vulgar that they cannot be shared. A particular parody of the film Centipede may finish Imran Khan’s political career, a Pakistani journalist said.
Imran Khan has not denied the purported audio leaks and only said the leaks were in poor taste as children could access them. About the said video, he has pre-empted the agencies by branding them deep fake even before they come to the public domain. He has said “meri gandi videos jaari honge (some dirty videos of mine will be released)”. He clearly has seen at least one of them.
Interestingly, The new Army chief, General Asim Munir, and Imran Khan don’t see eye to eye and Imran Khan did everything in his authority to prevent the former from becoming the Chief of Army Staff. General Asim Munir was the one who had shown up at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad with files that documented Imran Khan’s corruption cases. When Gen Bajwa’s extension came to an end, Imran Khan tried his best to have a favorite installed in his place. He began a long march that was cut short by an alleged assassination attempt. Then the audio leaks happened.
Imran Khan will soon be charged with crimes after stealing from the government while serving as Pakistan’s prime minister. The alleged sale of priceless gifts has now become a significant political issue in Pakistan, but it is anticipated that these cases will go to trial. The Tyrian Khan White case is another one that might follow him around. He omitted to mention his daughter Tyrian Khan White in his election papers.
Tyrian resides with Jemima Goldsmith Khan, Imran’s ex-wife and the mother of his two sons. Tyrian was born to Sita White in California, USA, and later came under Jemima Khan’s care after Sita White passed away from cancer.
