Balochistan coastal belt receives heavy rainfall with thunderstorms

GWADAR: The coastal belt of Balochistan, as well as Turbat and other places, had severe rains and thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Rainwater flooded homes in the southern portion of Gwadar’s port city, as well as shops on Airport Road and Ladies Market. As the city was drenched, power was also turned off.

Rain fell sporadically in Kohlu and the surrounding areas. The temperature plummeted below freezing as rain fell and chilly winds blew.

Rainwater flooded Turbat’s populous areas, breaking the region’s land connectivity with the rest of the areas.

Several homes in Dasht Bilingor, Dalesar, Balkross, and Kashap were damaged by heavy rain.

Officials reported that emergency teams have been dispatched to Bilingor to assist with relief efforts.
Heavy rains created havoc in many parts of Kech, with rain starting at 9:00 p.m. and continuing unabated throughout the night.

On Monday, the Met Office expected heavy rain and severe winds in Makran’s coastal belt and other regions of Balochistan.

The wet spell in Balochistan’s coastal zone will stop by January 6, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

During the stormy weather, the provincial fisheries authority warned fishermen not to go out into the sea.
