Lahore reports 37 confirmed cases of Omicron

LAHORE: Local news media reported on Saturday that 37 new confirmed cases of the Omicron form of the coronavirus have been recorded in Lahore, bringing the total number of infections caused by the Covid-19 mutation to 50.

Out of 50 new instances, seven members of a Lahore household were infected with a Covid strain, according to the health authority.

In the light of a growing Omicron threat around the world, the health department is concerned that the coronavirus mutation will spread further in the provincial capital.

Citizens have been encouraged to wear face masks and get their COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as possible, according to the district administration.

In Islamabad, 34 new cases of the Omicron variant were reported yesterday, bringing the overall number of infections with the coronavirus mutation to 66.

Dr Zaeem Zia, the District Health Officer (DHO), verified that 34 new instances of Omicron had been detected in Islamabad in the previous 24 hours. The overall number of infections has already surpassed 66.

The first Omicron incidence was detected in Islamabad on December 25, according to the health officer.

On December 31, eleven new cases of the coronavirus Omicron strain were reported in Karachi. Eleven members of the same family were determined to be sick with the new strain, according to sources.
