GILGIT: A 5.3 magnitude earthquake hits Gilgit Baltistan and the neighbouring territories on Monday afternoon, according to the reports.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) verified that a 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Gilgit and the surrounding districts, sending people fleeing their houses in fear.
The earthquakes were reported in Chilas, Jagloot, Astore, and other parts of the GB region, according to the NSMC. The earthquake’s magnitude was measured at 5.3 on the Richter scale.
Earthquake hits Gilgit Baltistan. The epicentre was near Jaglot and had a depth of 45 kilometres, according to the monitoring centre.
Earthquake tremors were also felt in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan on December 25.
The shocks were felt in Ziarat’s Quetta, Pishin, and Mangi areas, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC). The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale, and its centre was six kilometres north of Quetta.
People fled their homes in terror when they felt the earthquakes, reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
