As evidence mounts that Kiev’s soldiers missile hit Poland, Russia criticises Ukraine
As additional information becomes available following a missile that impacted Polish soil last night, a flurry of urgent and high-level diplomatic discussions are taking place on Wednesday among NATO nations.
Although it denied any participation and labelled the missile that killed two Polish civilians as a “provocation,” Russia was widely suspected of firing the missile that did so. NATO nations, particularly Poland and its neighbours in Eastern Europe, as well as the former Soviet states in the Baltics, have stated that if Russia is discovered to be responsible for the attack, there will be a harsh response.
The missile’s trajectory, according to U.S. President Joe Biden, does not support the theory that it was fired from Russia, contrary to what preliminary findings appear to indicate. According to AP, American officials speculated that Ukrainian forces may have fired a missile to block a Russian one.
According to NATO’s “Article 4” provision, which allows members to hold emergency meetings when they feel threatened, Poland has called an emergency NATO meeting as investigations continue. Later on Wednesday, it will happen in Brussels.
Following a barrage of Russian missile assaults on Ukraine’s energy and infrastructure, which the country’s energy corporation described as the “biggest attack in the history of the energy sector,” there was a missile incident in Poland.
On the eve of the G-20 summit in Bali, which ends today, the Group of Seven gathered and issued a statement denouncing “the barbarous missile attacks” that Russia launched on Tuesday against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
