ISLAMABAD: Earthquake tremors were felt across the country on Saturday, notably in the Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces’ Quetta and Battagram areas, respectively.
The shocks were felt in Ziarat’s Quetta, Pishin, and Mangi areas, according to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC). The earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale, and its centre was six kilometres north of Quetta.
The jolts that burst out of their dwellings while reciting passages from the Holy Quran caused alarm among the public. However, no deaths or property damage have been reported as a result of the tremors so far.
Locals in the Battagram district of the KP province, on the other hand, have reported earthquakes for the fourth time since midnight, according to residents.
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake rocked Swat and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province on Friday.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) verified that a 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck Swat and the surrounding districts, sending people fleeing their houses in fear.
The epicentre was in the Hindu Kush mountain range, at a depth of 226 kilometres, according to the monitoring centre.
An earthquake (also known as a quake, tremor or temblor) is the shaking of the surface of the Earth resulting from a sudden release of energy in the Earth’s lithosphere that creates seismic waves. Earthquakes can range in intensity, from those that are so weak that they cannot be felt, to those violent enough to propel objects and people into the air, damage critical infrastructure, and wreak destruction across entire cities.
