“Just a small chunk of flesh”: Lalu Yadav’s daughter on donating kidney to him

Rohini Acharya, the daughter of RJD president Lalu Prasad who resides in Singapore, explained her decision to give a kidney to her frail septuagenarian father as “only a small part of flesh.”
The eldest sister of Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, who is in her early 40s, released a string of moving tweets on Friday, a day after the public learned that she was willing to donate a kidney to her sick father.

“I only want to give my father a small portion of my flesh. Anything I can do for him. Please pray that everything works out and that Papa is able to speak to you all once more, “She tweeted, clearly addressing her father’s fans.

Ms. Acharya shared a few pictures of her father, one of which was taken decades ago and shows her as a toddler sitting on his lap. Ms. Acharya uses her expertise with social media to fight for her family despite being far from the rough and tumble of politics.

The 74-year-old RJD president was urged to get a kidney transplant because of his numerous health issues.

The daughter of Prasad and Rabri Devi said she viewed her parents—both former Bihar chief ministers—as being on par with God and felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to contribute in some small way to her father’s much-anticipated transplant. She is currently waiting for her father’s arrival for the long-awaited surgery.

At the moment, Lalu Prasad is staying with his oldest daughter Misa Bharti in Delhi.

The court must give Mr. Prasad, a felon in numerous cases involving the fodder fraud who is out on bond, permission to travel overseas.

He was in Singapore last month for preliminary examinations related to his ongoing kidney issues, but he was forced to return on October 24, one day before the deadline set by a CBI court in Delhi for his absence from India.
