Arshad Sharif was allegedly killed in a case of mistaken identity, according to the Kenyan police. According to the police, Sharif and his driver were travelling from Magadi Town to Nairobi when they were hailed down at a police checkpoint.
They apparently did not stop and proceeded through the roadblock, which led to a brief chase and gunfire that resulted in Sharif’s death. His driver was hurt in the rollover and sent to the hospital.
According to the investigation, Arshad was struck by the first bullet in the back, which exited through his chest, and by the second, which struck him in the head. Sources close to the members of the joint investigative team (JIT) who had been to Nairobi had revealed this. Two other witnesses, Khurram and Waqar, who were Arshad Sharif’s close associates, provided testimony to the JIT. Khurram and Waqar should be extradited to Pakistan for further investigation, according to a preliminary JIT recommendation. According to a source close to the JIT, the government has agreed to send Khurram and Waqar back if it’s thought that it will help the probe.
