Nation observes Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s birthday today

Today, the nation as a whole celebrates the 145th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, our national poet. On November 9, 1877, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot. He died on April 21, 1938, in Lahore.

In addition to being regarded as Pakistan’s national poet, Allama Iqbal is also known as the “Doctor of the Muslim Ummah” and “Muffakir-e-Pakistan,” “Shair-e-Mashriq,” and “Poet of the East.” He is credited with promoting pan-Islamic philosophy among Muslims on the subcontinent.

With writings in Persian and Urdu, Allama Iqbal is regarded as one of literature’s most significant characters. His major works include Asrar-e-Khudi, Payam-i-Mashriq, Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i Kalim, and Armughan-e-Hijaz.
