Fire erupts in Texas oil refinery. A fire broke out on Thursday at an Exxon Mobil Corp compound in Baytown, Texas, one of the country’s largest refining and petrochemical complexes, injuring four employees.
There were no fatalities, and those who were hurt were in good condition and receiving medical attention. Exxon stated that all other staff had been located.
Several hours after the fire started, it was put out at 10 a.m. EST (1500 GMT).

According to Reuters, the fire broke out in a hydrotreater unit at the refinery, which had been shut down on Wednesday owing to a bypass line leak. In the production of diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel, hydrotreaters remove sulphur and other impurities.
According to Exxon spokesperson Julie King, the company is altering output rates at other Baytown processing units to focus on stabilising the afflicted units.
With a capacity to process 560,500 barrels of crude per day, the Baytown plant houses a chemical factory, an olefins plant, and the country’s fourth-largest oil refinery. It’s unknown whether any of the facilities will be closed for a lengthy period of time.
Contractors who were repairing the leak were among those hurt. Three of the injured were evacuated to the hospital by a Lifeflight rescue helicopter, while a fourth was transported by ambulance, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
According to Gonzalez, initial indications indicated that there had been an explosion at the factory. A detonation rattled buildings in the neighborhood, according to social media users.
The plant is around 3,400 acres in size and employs about 7,000 people near the Houston Ship Channel, about 25 miles (40 kilometres) east of Houston.
