KARACHI: Sindh’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued an alert on Thursday after the Met Department predicted rain in numerous areas of the province, including Karachi, according to the report.
The body stated in a letter to the deputy commissioners that the Pakistan Meteorological Department had projected rain in Karachi and other province districts beginning December 25.
Rains are expected in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpur Khas, Dadu, Jamshoro, Larkana, and Shaheed Benazirabad, according to the PDMA Sindh alert.
The PDMA has requested that district administrations across the province take preventive measures to prevent loss of life and property damage during the rainy season.
A powerful westerly weather system is forecast to hit the western/upper regions of the country on Saturday evening, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Rainfall is expected in most parts of the country, including Karachi, under the impact of this weather system.
On Saturday and Sunday, rain with scattered heavy rainfall is forecast in Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas, and Khairpur (December 25 and 26).
According to DG MET Sarfraz, Karachi will be hit by a cold wave starting December 28 and lasting till January 1, with temperatures dropping to 9 and 10 degrees.
In addition, rain with isolated heavy rainfall is predicted in Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Zhob, Qila Abdullah, Nokkundi, Dalbandin, Noshki, Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Pasni, Jiwani, Lasbella, Kalat, Khuzdar, Mastung, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Jhalmagsi, Bolan, Sibbi, Kohlu, Barkhan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Okara, Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur.
