Following political developments in Pakistan, everyone is worried that martial law will unavoidably be imposed and perhaps not right away, but within the next six months or so.
Considering the following details, as in August 2018, Imran Khan was elected prime minister on a platform of honesty, openness, and responsibility. However, the economy deteriorated and the cost of necessities like food, petrol, and other items rose throughout his administration (which lasted until April 2022). This sparked protests from the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of the PPP, PMLN, and a few other parties. As a result, Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaaf party was forcefully removed from office and the PDM took its place.
Along with the damage brought on by the most recent floods, the PDM is currently experiencing severe economic crisis. Its ministers, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, have been travelling to different nations with a begging bowl and pleading for assistance. The recent by-elections to Parliament, in which the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) won six of the eight seats and the PDM only two, show that the vast majority of Pakistanis favour Imran Khan.
Imran Khan is generally seen by the Pakistani population as an honest man who entered politics to clean it up, established a sizable cancer hospital, etc. He undoubtedly committed a lot of errors, but in the eyes of the people of Pakistan he is not a thief.
The leaders of the other parties, particularly the PPP and the PMLN, are seen as being incredibly corrupt, on the other side (the Toshakhana matter pales into insignificance before their corruption and loot ). While Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam’s names are listed in the Panama Papers and they have amassed sizable assets in England and elsewhere, Asif Ali Zardari was dubbed “Mr. 10%.”
Regardless of the veracity of Imran Khan’s claim that the PDM government was imposed, the Pakistani people view Imran as honest and the PDM officials as con men. As a result, Khan is supported mostly by Pakistanis worldwide as well as in Pakistan. He doesn’t appear to be the type of person to idle away time. He has conducted sizable rallies in numerous towns and is a warrior.

It follows that protests and agitations in Pakistan will undoubtedly continue to grow. Imran Khan’s party would easily prevail in parliamentary elections held today. The PDM will put off conducting elections as long as they can knowing this. But as the economic situation worsens, Pakistan’s populace is growing more uneasy.
As a result, the situation will get more chaotic. Conflicts between the general populace and security personnel will undoubtedly lead to violence and fatalities. One could remember the circumstances in Pakistan prior to General Zia Ul Haq’s overthrow in 1977. Before the army intervened, the Pakistan National Alliance’s movement against then-prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had reached colossal proportions. Similar events appear to be occurring right now.
Sometimes, the only options are disorder or army authority, and history demonstrates that the army intervenes in these circumstances. A vacuum does not appeal to nature. The Pakistani army has undoubtedly opted to remain impartial and avoid politics for the time being. But this can’t go on indefinitely. Clashes between Imran Khan supporters and PDM leaders will intensify, and a situation will inevitably arise when the chaos spirals out of control to the point that the Pakistani army is compelled to intervene.
Although it won’t happen right away, it is expected that it will undoubtedly occur in around six months.
