Suryakumar Yadav became just the second Indian player to occupy the top T20I batter position on Wednesday, passing Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan in the rankings.
After scoring two half-centuries in the past week during the Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, Indian Suryakumar Yadav has overtaken all other batters in the world in T20 Internationals.
On Wednesday, Yadav passed Pakistan’s starting pitcher Mohammad Rizwan in the rankings to become just the second Indian player to occupy the top T20I batter position.
Yadav has 863 points right now, while Rizwan, whose form has fallen recently, is at 842 points. Devon Conway, a New Zealander, ranks third on the list with 792 points.
SKY, who made his T20I debut for India in March of last year, is in excellent form. In 37 T20Is, he has one century and 11 fifties.
Yadav produced a valiant 68 off 40 balls against South Africa in Perth and a 51 not out off 25 balls against the Netherlands in Sydney.
After Virat Kohli, who spent 1,013 days at the top at various times from September 2014 to December 2017, the daring batsman is the only other Indian to hold the top spot in T20 cricket.
According to ANI, Yadav’s 863 rating points are the second-best by an Indian, with Kohli’s 897 rating points in September 2014 holding the top spot.
Kohli, who has recently started to play consistently, has returned to the top 10 ranks. With 638 points, he holds the tenth position.
With scores of 104 against Sri Lanka and 62 against England, New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips has climbed five positions to a career-high seventh place. After scoring 109 against Bangladesh, South African Rilee Rossouw climbed 17 spots to a career-high ninth place.
Rashid Khan of Afghanistan and Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka are ranked first and second, respectively, among T20I bowlers.
Ravichandran Ashwin, who moved up three spots to 18th, Pakistan’s Mohammad Wasim, who moved up one spot to 21st, and New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi were among the bowlers who improved (up three places to 22nd).
