Pakistan railways to upgrade five major railway stations

In order to better serve passengers and increase revenue for the department, the Ministry of Railways plans to modernize five of the nation’s major railway stations.

The state news agency claims that the goal of upgrading the railway stations is to make it simpler for passengers as well as to turn them into commercial hubs for commercial operations.

He added that the government is undertaking many initiatives to enhance Pakistan Railways’ operations and give the general public the best facilities possible.

Prior to now, it had been made known that Pakistan Railways intended to buy up to 25 diesel-electric locomotives for use at various locations across the nation in order to help replace the old locomotives that would shortly be scrapped.

According to authorities in the Ministry of Railways, the project to buy and build 25 shunting locomotives will be carried out within three years at an estimated cost of Rs. 14 billion.

They claimed that as of right now, 98 shunters were being used at various stations across the nation, compared to 51 locomotives operating for this purpose. The majority of the outdated locomotives would also be dismantled because of their high maintenance expenses.
