Ex-wife of former PM Imran Khan claims she is attempting to earn £500,000 for flood victims by auctioning off sneak peeks of her upcoming movie.
The former spouse of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Jemima Goldsmith, has called on wealthy, polluting nations to compensate Pakistan for the disastrous floods that climate change has brought about in that nation.
She noted in a tweet that “this is too great a calamity for individual philanthropy.”
She continued, “Countries that have made the biggest contributions to the climate problem should pay reparations/consider debt relief for those countries on the frontlines like Pakistan through no fault of their own.”
Jemima stated to BBC News that she is attempting to earn £500,000 for Pakistan flood victims by auctioning off early screenings of her newest movie.
16 out of the 20 poorest areas in Pakistan have been the hardest damaged, according to the World Bank-led Post Damage and Need Assessment study, which has initially assessed the cost of flood damages and direct losses at over $32 billion.
Since mid-June, cataclysmic floods and torrential rains that were ten times heavier than typical have killed close to 1,700 people in Pakistan.
About 45% of the country’s crops has been devastated by the soaking rain and enormous floods, seriously jeopardising food security.
